Intervista a Marcin Held

[nextpage title=”Versione Italiana” ]

QCP: Questa domenica affronterai Damir Hadzovic.

In UFC ho tanti grandi incontri davanti a me.

QCP: This sunday you’re facing Damir Hadzovic. He’s a good striker, did you prepare the match in a particular way?

Marcin Held: It’s true that Damir is a good striker but I worked really hard and I am prepared to fight with him. My standing is getting better and better so I am ready to fight in every part of MMA.

QCP: Your last match with Joe Lauzon ended with a controversial verdict (for us you won the fight). After the fight back in January, Joe Lauzon publicly recanted his victory against you, by claiming you won it instead and asking Sean Shelby not to release you. What did you think of this gesture? Did you have the chance to confront Lauzon about this?

MH: I was absolutely surprised when the announcer said that Joe won this fight. This fight was rated by 17 jugdes from around the world and 16 gave me win and just one gave a draw. I thought I won 2 rounds for sure. Joe is a great guy, he respects the fair-play rules. I really appreciate that he claimed that I should have won this fight and judges made a mistake.

QCP: After two consecutive losses, will the next match be a turning point in your career?

MH: I hope it will. I’m not gonna leave this fight in judge’s hands this time.

QCP: You’re an early starter in this sport and you’ve already achieved many important goals throughout your career. How long do you see yourself involved in cage fighting? Is there something you would love to accomplish before hanging up the gloves?

MH: There is still a long way to go before hanging up the gloves because I still have a lot of to achieve. I think that I am somewhere in the middle of my career and I hope the second half will be better than the first one. I am healthy and I still love what I do so I want to fight as long as I will be able to do this. I love compete.

QCP: You had a great Bellator career. What are the biggest differences between Bellator and UFC, at this particular moment when fighters choose to go to the other big promotion to stop from been subjected to UFC’s “dictatorial” regime?

MH: If you want to be the best you have to fight in UFC. There are the best fighters here. There is only one Bellator’s lightweight fighter I would like to fight – Michael Chandler. In UFC I have a lot of great fights in front of me.

QCP: You’ve fought against Will Brooks for the Bellator Lightweight Championship back in 2015. Given the fact that both of you are in the UFC now, would you be interested in revenging that loss?

Of course I would like to take revenge on him. I hope UFC will do this someday. And now I will win

QCP: MMA have been very successful in Poland for several years. Where do you think this love comes from? And what you think about KSW? Would you like to be part of it one day?

MH: I think MMA is easy to fall in love with. You just need an organization who will show it to people correctly. In USA there is UFC, in Poland KSW does this job. KSW does a great job. They make this sport huge in Poland. It is all their merit. Maybe someday I will work with them after my American adventure.

QCP: Your opponent Damir Hadzovic, before coming to UFC, fought here in Italy for Venator FC. Do you know any athletes or some Italian promotions? What do you think about Italian MMA scene?

MH: I know Venator FC. I have a few friends in Italy and I been there a lot of times. I even did some seminars there. I love this country! MMA is growing fast there. I hope that Venator FC will do the job UFC and KSW did in their countries.
